IRS Schedules Public Hearing on MEPs

Government Affairs

The IRS has announced a public hearing on… MEPs.

That’s right, the IRS has published notice of a public hearing on proposed regulations relating to the tax qualification of plans maintained by more than one employer – plans that, maintained pursuant to section 413(c) of the Internal Revenue Code, are often referred to as multiple employer plans or MEPs.

The public hearing is being held on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2019, at 10:00 a.m.

The public hearing is being held in the IRS Auditorium, Internal Revenue Service Building, 1111 Constitution Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20224.

Those with something to say should note that the IRS must receive speakers’ outlines of the topics to be discussed at the public hearing by Monday, November 25, 2019. However, the IRS notes that if no outlines are received by Nov. 25, 2019, the public hearing will be cancelled.

Send Submissions to CC:PA:LPD:PR (REG-121508-18), Room 5205, Internal Revenue Service, P.O. Box 7604, Ben Franklin Station, Washington, DC 20044. Submissions may be hand-delivered Monday through Friday to CC:PA:LPD:PR (REG-121508-18), Couriers Desk, Internal Revenue Service, 1111 Constitution Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20224 or sent electronically via the Federal eRulemaking Portal at www.regulations.gov (IRS REG-121508-18).
