ASEA Monthly

Hello ASEA —

It has been a challenging March 15 season (if not brain-crushing). It reminds me of planning a 2023 trip with high school friends last winter. We were picking a tentative date, and I advised that before March 15 would not be a good time for me to go ... and neither would before April 15 ... or Sept. 15 ... or Oct. 15. Dec. 31 is no longer an issue. We really do live by the calendar.

And in this busy time, big thanks to Elizabeth Duda, everyone's favorite ASEA and NTSA Manager, for corralling most of these articles. Look for us to provide more issues this year.

Our first article comes from one of Elizabeth's co-workers, the Chief Content Officer for ARA, John Sullivan. John is taking over for Nevin Adams. You can find your introduction to John in his article below and welcome to John!

The next article is from our other esteemed colleagues at the ARA. Kelsey H. Mayo, Director of Regulatory Affairs, American Retirement Association, Partner, Poyner Spruill LLP and Allison Wielobob, General Counsel, American Retirement Association / Executive Director, ASEA. I want to be Kelsey when I grow up!

The next article is from our President, Clint A. Blankenship, EA, MSEA, MAAA, at the ShowMe Pension Group. Clint co-incidentally also mentions how the whole year is a busy season for actuaries (great minds think alike).

Anyway – for you young'uns, get involved, get signed up for a meeting, and click here to read Clint’s article.

Last but not least, the final article is from Kathy Tompkins, MSPA, EA, MAAA, and Partner at Shore Tompkins. This is her round-up of the recent Women in Retirement Conference, and it sounds like a great meeting. Much appreciation to Kathy for writing about this conference for the second year in a row.

Ok, folks, March is no time for me to be writing articles, so I bid you adieu. See you at the Actuarial Symposium in August! Best of luck with all your deadlines!!
