New TPA Partnership Forms

Practice Management

Nine independent TPAs have formed a new partnership, the Cerrado Group. The 501(c)6 consortium made the announcement on March 1.

According to the partnership’s website, the Cerrado Group was established to offer “a new approach” to retirement plan design, reporting, compliance and administration. Client services include plan administration, daily valuation and consulting, as well as 3(16) fiduciary and cybersecurity services. Its Executive Director is Ann Slotwinski, former head of TPA Services at John Hancock.

The partnership’s name comes from Brazil’s massive Cerrado savannah, one of the most biodiverse areas on the planet.

The firms that formed the Cerrado Group will still be independent regional operators, but will actively combine their resources and services in working with a wide variety of clients. The founding member firms are:

  • Abacus Benefit Consultants, Cranston, RI
  • Acuff & Associates, Brentwood, TN
  • Alliance Benefit Group of Houston, Houston, TX
  • Sunwest Pensions, Tempe, AZ
  • Benefit Plans Plus, St. Louis, MO
  • CrossPlans, Laguna Hills, CA
  • Pension Plan Specialists, Vancouver, WA
  • Qualified Pension Services, Littleton, CO
  • The Benefit Advantage, Auburn Hills, MI

The new partnership says it will immediately begin group activities, including “Confluence,” weekly high-level discussions with recordkeepers, broker-dealers, and advisor partners.
