Electronic Filing Only for PBGC Reportable Events as of Oct. 1

Starting Oct. 1, 2021, reportable events filings can only be made to the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) electronically. The PBGC issued a reminder on Sept. 15.

Reportable event filings (Form 10, Form 10-Advance, and Form 200) will need to be prepared and submitted using the PBGC’s e-filing portal, which has been available since 2016. 

The PBGC announced in March 2020 that it had updated many of the forms, instructions and modules of its e-filing portal, including Forms 10 and 10-Advance and related instructions and the corresponding part of PBGC’s e-filing portal, the 4010 module of PBGC’s e-filing portal and the summary of 4010 filing requirements and the comprehensive premium filing instructions.

The paper forms will still be on the PBGC’s website after Oct. 1, but for illustrative purposes only.
