The webcast is designed to offer registrants 2 ASPPA Ethics CE credits.

Enrolled Actuaries

The webcast is designed to offer registrants 2 JBEA Core Ethics CE credits for Enrolled Actuaries. The final decision as to the number and type of JBEA credits rests solely with the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries.

Enrolled Retirement Plan Agent (ERPA)

The webcast is designed to offer registrants 2 ERPA Ethics CE credits. The final decision as to the number of ERPA credits rests solely with the Internal Revenue Service.

Continuing Education Changes for RECORDED Webcast Attendees

Once registered, attendees will receive a confirmation letter directing them to the “Access Recorded Webcasts” page with a link to the WebEx OnDemand Center. Each registered viewer will be tracked when they log in with their name and email address. The webcast link will expire once the attendee has satisfied the CE requirement. CE credits will be applied to their record on a periodic basis and a certificate of attendance will be available on each attendee's My ASPPA page.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Sheldon H. Smith, Esq., APM

Sheldon H. Smith is Of Counsel to the law firm of Bryan Cave LLP and is a member of the firm’s Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Client Service Group, advising clients on ERISA, executive compensation, and fiduciary duties. Mr. Smith represents public and private companies and governmental organizations in assisting them with employee benefit matters.  Since 1980, Mr. Smith had been a member of either the adjunct or visiting faculties of the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. He received his undergraduate degree (B.A.) from Washington University in St. Louis and both of his law degrees (J.D. and LL.M. (taxation)) from the University of Denver. Mr. Smith has served as president of the Denver Tax Group. He has been a member of the Western Pension and Benefits Conference since 1986 and has served as its President and as President of the Denver Chapter. Mr. Smith is a Past President of ASPPA and is currently a Senior Advisor to its Government Affairs Committee. Mr. Smith was honored in 2009 as the Outstanding Alumni Law Star by the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. Mr. Smith is a Fellow of The American College of Employee Benefits Counsel and has been selected to "Chambers USA - America's Leading Lawyers", "The Best Lawyers in America", "Who’s Who in American Law", "Who’s Who in American Education", and as a Colorado Super Lawyer. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the Colorado Bar Association, and the Denver Bar Association. Mr. Smith is admitted to practice before the Colorado Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, the United States Tax Court, the Tenth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals and the Seventh Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.
