ASPPA Webcast: Ethics – Working with Our Code of Conduct

Description:  As a member of the American Retirement Association, you are subject to the association’s Code of Conduct.  We’ll provide highlights of the code that every member should be familiar, along with some real-life situations that require you to apply those ethical standards. How would you respond? How should you respond? Join us for a look at ethics and how they pop up in all types of situations.

Learning Objectives

  1. Review the Code of Conduct for the ASPPA and the American Retirement Association.     
  2. Identify situations that can require decisions that will apply the Code.
  3. Learn the implications for not adhering to the Code.

About the Speaker: Bob Kaplan joined the American Retirement Association (ARA) as director of technical education in 2017.  Bob’s responsibilities include updating existing ARA educational material and serving as a subject matter expert for new ARA programs. He is a frequent speaker at ARA conferences. Bob was previously a co-chair of the ASPPA Government Affairs Committee and a member of ASPPA’s Leadership Council.  He also previously served as a  on the Board of Managers of the American Institute of Retirement Education (AIRE) as well as the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Pension Administrators (NIPA).  Bob has provided testimony before the U. S. Treasury Department on 401(k) issues and other retirement plan issues, and has  more than 40 years of experience in retirement plan services, including plan design, administration, sales, and consulting.
