Description:
In Economics 101 you were taught that individuals were free-rational utility maximizing individuals (with a given set of preferences, endowments and technology). In reality, you know that decisions participants make often appear irrational. However, if you are aware of how individuals appear to make decisions, rather than fighting those forces, you can use them to assist your participants to make better decisions. This webcast will provide a background into some of the behavioral finance theories, and provide insights into how participants in the accumulation phase make choices and how retirees seem to make their choices.

Key Takeaways:
1. Identify the academic theories behind behavioral finance
2. Apply behavioral finance theory to DC plan design and investment structure
3. Recognize behavioral issues impacting retiree financial wellness
