Description:
Nearly every retirement plan has missing participants and uncashed checks on the books, and many plans with assets are abandoned each year. Join us for an in-depth look at the fiduciary requirements for tracking and locating missing participants and dealing with account balances for participants who cannot be found. The DOL has also taken a keen interest in the issues that arise when benefit checks go uncashed. It is important to ensure that fiduciaries can track and report these assets that remain in the plan. You will also learn what options are available for winding up abandoned plans and paying participants, the fiduciary and reporting requirements that apply, and who can be paid for providing services to an abandoned plan.

Key Takeaways:
1. Update your knowledge on steps that must be taken by fiduciaries to track and locate missing participants.
2. Learn about fiduciary issues that arise when benefit checks go uncashed and why the DOL thinks these issues are important.
3. Investigate the rules for winding up abandoned plans and evaluate whether this is a service that your organization may offer.
