How Planning a Conference is Like Building a Video Game, Part 2

Inside ASPPA

That’s right—this year’s TPA Growth Summit will be like the newest improved version of an excellent video game. Here’s how…

Last week we explained that when a new video game is released, players review the game. These reviews inform developers on what features are beloved, as well as what is not, and what is not working. Developers then incorporate changes, and the next/newest/better version of the game is created and released.

So What Does That Have to do with Conferences?

Glad you asked. Just like those video game launches, after a conference concludes, conference evaluations are collected and reviewed. These evaluations aid in the discovery of what attendees liked, wanted more of, and didn’t care for.

We took attendees feedback to “Level Up” the Growth Summit. Some improvements incorporated into Growth Summit 2022 include:

  • the agenda will coincide with ASPPA Annual’s agenda;
  • attendees have the option to attend all ASPPA Annual general sessions without missing any Growth sessions;
  • more peer-to-peer sharing and roundtables;
  • more time to connect with other attendees and sponsors; and
  • more down time to recharge prior to the next event.

Last week we outlined Level 01 and Level 02 (if you missed, or have forgotten, you can catch up here). Here’s where we go from “there”:

Level 03: Planning for the Future

Tuesday’s Growth sessions focus on the future! General session three will start off the day and cover all things cyber security related. After this general session, Tuesday’s Growth sessions will start with automation and managing business risk when growing.

Later in the day, keynote speaker, Steve Heroux, will deliver an entertaining session covering how leaders can drive change in their sales environments. The Growth specific sessions will conclude on Tuesday with a peer-to-peer, interactive roundtable session led by speaker Steve Heroux.

Prior to the conclusion of Tuesday’s sessions, we will rejoin the Annual attendees for an entertaining general session entitled Retirement Plan Horror Stories! Then Growth attendees get a break to rest and recharge before the sure-to-be fantastic event ASPPA at Night on Tuesday evening.

Tuesday will be another challenging level, but we have confidence you will achieve the desired outcome to move onto Level 4.

Level 04: Putting it All into Action

You did it! For the last and final level, we will learn more about how to ‘Recalibrate, Rewire and Reboot Your Brand’ with an industry marketing expert, Sheri Fitts. Subsequent to Sheri’s keynote, she will lead a peer-to-peer hands-on roundtable where attendees will apply what they’ve learned through a step-by-step, practical process. The Growth attendees will then join other Annual attendees for the conference’s final general session: Ask The Experts.

Similar to how players mastering a video game want to finish the game by “winning,” the TPA Growth attendees will leave the Summit with valuable tools that will allow them to “win” in their business. Between creating or redesigning your plans, motivating team members, learning how to work on your practice, having an awareness of where the future is taking us, driving changes in sales approaches and goals, and marketing your brand, you will leave better prepared than before to drive growth, improve business success, and increase brand awareness. Let’s face it, no one plays a video game to lose, so no one will leave the TPA Growth Summit without key takeaways to “win” at work!

See you at ASPPA Annual 2022! We look forward to Leveling Up with you!
