From the Executive Editor

Hola! ACOPA –

Just returned from a week away in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico. For the first time since email was invented, I spent a week away without responding to any work emails.

Admittedly, I looked at most of them, but I didn’t answer any. Not sure why I used to get so stressed out about it in the past, but I am past that now.

Save yourself or your employer $100 and register for the ACOPA Symposium before July 6. Nolan S. Frank, President and Chief Actuary of Tepfer Consulting Group, Ltd. and Symposium Conference Committee member, tells us more about the Symposium, along with his reminder on credits needed for the ending cycle in his article, here

Also providing his perspective is the one and only Kevin Donovan, President of Pinnacle Plan Design, LLC and also a Conference Committee member. Kevin explains why this is a symposium rather than a conference. I remember my first Symposium and how different it was than the conferences I previously attended for continuing education. You can find Kevin’s article here.

ACOPA President John Markley details his GAC meetings in early June. John and others spent both Saturday and Sunday advancing our interests (and that was just half his time there). Thank you to those who spent their time meeting with the PBGC, IRS and sister organizations. You can find John’s article here

Our Executive Director Marty Pippens provides insight to the PBGC proposed regulations. I am glad Marty highlights potential changes to Form 501, as I have not had a chance to look at them otherwise. So Marty, you have helped me on this subject, and I am sure you are helping others as well. You can find Marty’s article here.

So, while I was never much of a wine snob. I did learn a lot about tequila on my trip (you pour a little on your palms to breathe in the aroma, without it being sticky). No more bottom shelf liquor for me!

Okay, back to preparing Form 5500s so I don’t need to be here late in October! See many of you soon at the Symposium!
