We won’t be bringing you an ASPPA Connect newsletter on Monday, May 25 due to the observance of Memorial Day, but we would like to share some little-known facts related to the holiday.
- In 2018, 243,000 American flags were placed at graves in Arlington National Cemetery in observance of Memorial Day.
- On Memorial Day, the American flag should be at half-staff until noon only, then raised to the top of the staff.
- Every year on Memorial Day, a national moment of remembrance takes place at 3:00 p.m. local time.
- Memorial Day became an official federal holiday in 1971.
