Form 5500 and Other Filing Updates

Most employee benefit plans require an annual Form 5500 filing.  This program will offer you the opportunity to ask questions as well as: 

- Learn about changes to the 2013 Form 5500 series and its instructions

- Review changes to the EFAST2 system and discuss IRS proposals to mandate electronic filing for some Form 8955-SSA filers

- Present issues with Form 5558 and offer suggestions for dealing with IRS correspondence and best practices in this regard

- Take a look at common situations that arise for preparers and consider possible solutions; including issues with Form 5330

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Janice M. Wegesin

Janice M. Wegesin is President of JMW Consulting, Inc. in Petoskey, Michigan. The firm specializes in compliance work associated with qualified retirement plans and welfare benefit arrangements. Ms. Wegesin has over 35 years’ experience in the retirement plan industry, is a Certified Pension Consultant and an Enrolled Agent, enrolled to practice before the IRS, and is the author of the Form 5500 Preparer’s Manual (Aspen Publishers). 

Ms. Wegesin is a member of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA) and received the organization’s Educator’s Award in 1998 and its Harry T. Eidson Founder’s Award in 2006. Janice received NIPA's Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006. She frequently teaches seminars for pension professionals and accountants on many topics including Form 5500 preparation and maintains the Web site www.form5500help.com.
