ASPPA Webcast: Hey, Give Me Some Credit - Tax Credits That Is!

Description: SECURE 2.0 has increased the tax credits available that encourage retirement plan adoption and individual saving for retirement. These credit apply for both some employees and employers. During this interactive session we’ll address these incentives, including credits for small employers adopting plans and tax credits for participants with modest incomes. 

Learning Objectives:

  1. How to identify which employers are entitled to tax credits when they adopt a plan and how to calculate the credit
  2. How to calculate tax credits for individuals contributing to a plan
  3. When adding an automatic enrollment feature will be eligible for an additional tax credit

About the Speakers: 

Bob Kaplan is the director of technical education for the American Retirement Association.  Bob’s responsibilities include updating existing ARA educational material and being a Subject Matter Expert for new ASPPA programs. Bob is a frequent speaker for ARA conferences. Bob was previously a co-chair of the ASPPA Government Affairs Committee and a member of ASPPA’s Leadership Council.  He also previously served as a member of the Board of Managers of the American Institute of Retirement Education (AIRE) as well as the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Pension Administrators (NIPA).  Bob has provided testimony before the Treasury department on 401(k) issues and other retirement plan issues, and has over 40 years of experience in retirement plan services, including plan design, administration, sales, and consulting.

Kelsey Mayo is an ERISA attorney at Poyner Spruill and ARA's Director of Regulatory Affairs.  She routinely represents clients before the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor, and Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation, including many 403(b) and 457(b) plan sponsors and enjoys helping professionals decipher the most complex areas of this field.
