About the Speaker:

 

A nationally known thought leader in the qualified retirement plan arena, Ilene H. Ferenczy is the managing partner of Ferenczy Benefits Law Center, an employee benefits law firm in Atlanta, Ga.. As the author of Employee Benefits in Mergers and Acquisitions, in its 20th edition, and co-editor of ERISA: A Comprehensive Guide and The Plan Correction eSource, as well as a co-editor-in-chief (and common contributor) of the Journal of Pension Benefits, Ilene is well versed in the practical challenges faced by employers and fiduciaries, third-party administrators, and investment advisors and managers in the retirement plan realm. Having become an attorney after more than 10 years asTPA, she brings a unique and practical approach to her advice about problem solving and opportunities for her clients, and frequently advocates to the DOL and IRS on behalf of plans and their sponsors. She is a member of the Georgia and California state bars, and holds designations as an Accredited Pension Administrator from the National Institute of Pension Administrators (NIPA), a Certified Pension Consultant from ASPPA, and has received Educator of the Year Awards from both organizations. She is an award-winning, nationally known speaker on benefits issues, and in addition to her books, she has authored more than 100 articles and is the author of the Qualified Plans module on ERISApedia.com. Ilene is a past adjunct professor in the College of Law at Georgia State University in Atlanta and a former member of the Employee Benefits Advisory Board of the John Marshall Law School Center for Tax Law and Employee Benefits in Chicago, as well as a former member of ASPPA’s Leadership Council. She is on the boards of both NIPA and The Pension Education Council of Atlanta.
