Description: RMDs for DB plans have quite different rules than for DC plans and IRA’s. The SECURE Act made major changes to the RMD rules, in particular to the required beginning date. Learn about these changes, as well as reviewing how RMDs work for annuities under a DB plan. Tips and tricks for applying RMDs under a DB plans, as well as avoiding pitfalls, are covered in detail.

About the Speaker:
Charles Brown is an actuary and compliance specialist for Economic Group Pension Services, Inc. (EGPS). He is an Enrolled Actuary with the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries (JBEA) and holds the designations of Qualified 401(k) Administrator and Qualified Plan Administrator with the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries (ASPPA). He also works as a consultant for TAGData, a division of Wolters Kluwer Law and Business. In this role he helps clients of TAGData, which are other consulting firms, resolve issues related to Cash Balance and other Defined Benefit Pension Plans. Charles has been a volunteer with the JBEA as a pre-tester for the EA exams.
Marty Pippins is the Executive Director of ASEA and the Director of Regulatory Policy the American Retirement Association. He is an Enrolled Actuary and recently retired from the Internal Revenue Service as a senior executive where he held multiple positions, including managing the Employee Plans Technical Guidance group, and the EPCRS program. During 2017, he was detailed to the Senate Finance Committee where he worked on retirement, health care, and tax legislation.
