The Power of Ethics: ASPPA Women Business Leaders Forum to Discuss Hiring for Character and Competence

The flux of employees in and out of our lives is a constant factor for business owners. While we focus on building a consistent, productive workforce, we may miss two main ingredients in good company culture: character and competence. Dr. Nathan Mellor, leadership development expert and lifelong educator, joins us this June at ASPPA’s Women Business Leaders Forum in Denver to discuss the challenge of hiring for character and competence to build a happier, more cohesive workplace.

Dr. Mellor is the CEO of C3 Brands (Mosaic Personnel and strata Leadership) and the President of Strata Leadership, LLC, a full-service leadership training company based in Oklahoma City, OK. Strata Leadership helps leaders worldwide shape the culture of their organizations by providing assessments, cultural analyses, executive coaching and training programs that contemplate the essential role of character and competence in decision-making.

Throughout his career, Dr. Mellor has consulted, trained and lectured across the United States and abroad, bringing his expertise in organizational leadership to a wide range of companies, including AAR Corporation, American Airlines, ArcBest Corporation, CoorsTek, Direct Energy, Kansas Aviation, Kimray Inc., Locke Supply and SandRidge Energy. Dr. Mellor has also worked with numerous nonprofits and governmental agencies.

The leadership programs Dr. Mellor co-developed, Peace Through Business Rwanda and Four Star Debate with General Tommy Franks, have been highlighted on CNN Inside Africa, Fox News and Fox Radio. Strata programs and resources are offered in all 50 states and in more than 25 countries. Dr. Mellor is also the cofounder of the Presidential Leadership Institute, hosted on the campus of York College and in collaboration with the Eisenhower Presidential Museum and Library.

Dr. Mellor's TedxOU Talk, “Listen Up, Corporate American: Less Rules, More Character” is currently available to watch here.

The ASPPA Women Business Leadership Forum is thrilled to be able to bring you such an acclaimed speaker. The WBLF is being held June 5-8 in Denver at the Brown Palace Hotel this year. This conference is a gathering of some of the best, brightest and most innovative women business owners and managers in the compliance consulting and retirement plan service industry.

It is a premiere event designed to offer business leaders new ideas for growing their businesses and making them thrive in an ever-changing industry. We feel certain that Dr. Mellor’s presentation on “The Power of Ethics” will leave us with many new insights on how we can each improve our firms.
