Webcast General Information

Webcast Schedule

ASPPA now offers live and recorded webcasts. Topics are generally of a timely nature, such as pension reform or 5500 procedures, but 'timeless topics' are presented as well. As such, we do not have a fixed schedule of webcasts. As webcasts are set up and scheduled, they are announced on this Web site and via fax.

While individual webcasts may vary, they usually start at 12 noon eastern time. They run approximately 100 minutes long.

Registration

Registrations can be submitted by returning a completed registration form to the ASPPA National Office via fax at (703) 516-9308, or by registering online. ASPPA members receive registration priority, and all webcasts are filled on a first come, first served basis.

Prices and availability are determined by the membership status of the individual registering, not necessarily the person originally contacted regarding the webcast. Furthermore, if a member receives notification of an upcoming webcast, and a nonmember uses the form to register, the nonmember is still charged the nonmember registration fee and is only registered when registration is open to nonmembers.

Confirmations are sent to the registered attendee's e-mail address on file. This is the only confirmation that is sent.

How Do the Live Webcasts Work?

If you have a phone and a modem connection for Internet access (at least 28.8), you are ready. You view the graphics presentation broadcast over the Internet with a Flash-enabled browser and access the accompanying audio seminar by toll-free number over your phone. If using a speakerphone, remember to mute the call for best audio quality. Note: you will need the Flash plugin for your Internet browser.

Test your system's capabilities by completing the Browser Check - click on Attendee Login and use 'demo' as the Show Code, and complete the rest of the fields. You should see a set of slides automatically start scrolling on the screen. If not, download the lastest Flash plugin and retest. If you are still experiencing problems, visit the help page.

How Do the Recorded Webcasts Work?

Recorded webcasts are offered completely over the Internet, using Flash presentation software. To attend, an attendee must have Internet access, a sound card, and speakers for his or her computer. Registered attendees can access the presentation once, but arrangements can be made for people who wish to view the presentation an additional number of times.

You will need the Flash plugin for your Internet browser.

Test your system's capabilities by completing the Browser Check - click on Attendee Login and use 'demo' as the Show Code, and complete the rest of the fields. If you do not pass, follow the instructions online or call (888) 390-6645 for assistance. If you do pass, you are all set. The webcast is conducted completely via the Internet.

Note: Webcasts rely very heavily on available bandwidth, and most issues that arise affecting the quality of a webcast are attributed to the lack of bandwidth. Bandwidth is particularly important when viewing webcast recordings since the entire presentation, video and audio, is served over the Internet. This mode of viewing is very susceptible to bandwidth congestion - in other words, the presentation may slow or stop due to the lack of Internet bandwidth available. Please keep this in mind when you schedule viewing of recordings. Early afternoons on business days are traditionally a high bandwidth time - you are more likely to experience issues in this timeframe.
