Answers
How often are webcasts scheduled? When
will I find out about them?
ASPPA now offers live and recorded webcasts. Topics
are generally of a timely nature, such as pension reform or Form 5500
procedures. As such, we do not have a fixed schedule of webcasts. As
webcasts are set up and scheduled, they are announced on this Web site
and via fax. Upcoming webcasts and available recordings are listed
on the Web site at www.asppa.org/webcast/.
When do webcasts start and how long are they?
While individual webcasts may vary, they usually
start at 12 noon eastern time. They run approximately 100 minutes long.
Who can register to attend?
How can I register?
Registrations are processed by either returning the completed registration
form to the ASPPA National Office via fax at (703) 516-9308, or attendees
can register online by logging
on to the Web site. Generally speaking, both members and non-members
may attend webcasts, though there may be limitations depending on the
particular webcast. Prices and availability are determined by the individual
registering, not the person originally contacted regarding the webcast.
If a member recieves notification of the upcoming webcast and a non-member
uses the form to register, the non-member will be charged non-member
pricing. Confirmations will be sent to the registered attendee's e-mail
address, and this will be the only confirmation sent.
Can I get ASPPA and/or JBEA
credit for viewing a webcast or webcast recording?
Webcast presentations are generally 100 minutes in
length, and therefore qualify for two ASPPA continuing education credits.
Check the Continuing
Education portion of the Web site to learn how to use this program
for in-house training or as a study group. As a general rule, attendees
must remember to list the webcast in their CE summary filed at the
end of the CE cycle, and if attending as part of a group, must complete
an attendance
verification form. ASPPA will not issue any certification of
attendance.
Starting in September 2005, ASPPA webcasts also qualify
for JBEA credit. [Learn more]
How do live webcasts work?
All you need are a phone, a modem connection for Internet access (at
least 28.8) and the special toll-free number to call. You will follow
along with a graphics presentation broadcast over the Internet and
access the audio portion of the seminar through your telephone (we
suggest you use a speaker phone with a mute feature for best audio
quality). If you have never experienced a webcast, we strongly suggest
you try out the vendor
demo.
How do webcast recordings work?
ASPPA traditionally offers access to a recording of a webcast (including
both audio and visual portions of the presentation) approximately one
week following the original live webcast presentation. Recordings are
offered completely over the internet, using Flash presentation software.
This requires that an attendee's computer have Internet access, a sound
card and speakers to attend. The fee for access is the same as the
live webcast, and the recording is accessible for approximately one
year after being initially posted. Registered attendees can access
the presentation twice, and arrangements can be made for additional
accessing. The recorded presentations run for approximately 100 minutes,
but does allow pausing, rewinding and fast forwarding.
