ASPPA’s 2007 Annual Conference will be held October 21-24, with the 2007 Visit to Capitol Hill being on Tuesday, October 23. All Annual Conference attendees are encouraged to participate in this exciting and rewarding event.

Congress is examining the issue of 401(k) plan fee disclosure and is considering legislation that would enhance the disclosure of 401(k) fees to both plan participants and plan fiduciaries. This is a critical issue as there are no uniform rules of disclosure on how 401(k) fee and expense information must be disclosed to plan fiduciaries or plan participants, nor are there requirements that fee disclosure requirements be made in a manner that is easily assessable and understandable to plan participants.

Your voice must be heard. Congress needs to hear directly from you on: (1) the need for uniform 401(k) fee disclosure requirements from all service providers to plan fiduciaries, regardless of the way plan services are delivered; and (2) uniform rules of 401(k) fee disclosure to plan participants. With your help we can enhance 401(k) plan transparency to protect millions of American’s retirement security.

ASPPA makes this effort very easy. Hill visits do not conflict with Annual Conference sessions and arrangements are made for you, including transportation, lunch and talking points. You just have to get on the bus, arrive and talk about your work to one of your members of Congress. Your voice is needed to communicate how important it is for plan fiduciaries and participants to be able to understand the fees that are imposed on 401(k) investments in order to make wise investment decisions.
