About the Education & Examination Program

Comprehensive education and examination programs are offered by ASPPA for its members and other retirement plan professionals because career and industry advancement are distinguishing characteristics of all ASPPA activities. Dedicated to providing practical and scholastic education programs, the curriculum is carefully expanded and improved each year to address legal and legislative changes affecting the pension system and the work of retirement plan professionals.

The Education and Examination programs are made up of courses and corresponding examinations leading to professional credentials and certificates of completion. No specific education or background requirements are required for individuals who want to pursue ASPPA's education programs. Any person interested in pension consulting, administration or employee benefits may be an examination candidate. ASPPA membership is not required to enroll. The ERISA Outline Book, 2008 Edition

The 2008 Edition of The ERISA Outline Book by Sal L. Tripodi, APM, JD, LLM, includes the latest guidance for new funding rules under PPA 2006, final IRC §415 regulations, automatic enrollment guidance and so much more. ASPPA’s Education and Examination department has created the Candidate Corner to answer the most common questions that candidates ask. This web page is intended to be an all-inclusive, first stop for information needed on ASPPA examinations and courses. It includes links to examination syllabi, test taking tips, ASPPA’s policies on examinations, examination procedures and instructions, and the latest updates to errata for study materials. There are many resources to help you prepare for your examination or fulfill your educational needs.
