Continuing Education

ASPPA emphasizes the importance of the continuing professional and educational development of its members. ASPPA continuing education is mandatory for all credentialed members. Effective January 1, 2001, all credentialed members, regardless of credential date, must accumulate continuing education (CE) credits for each two-year reporting cycle.

Please note, FSPA and MSPA members satisfy their ASPPA CE requirements by maintaining their EA status and satisfying the JBEA CE requirements and are not required to submit a CE reporting form.

For more information about how to acquire and report CE credit, you can access the CE reporting and verification forms on this Web site, or review the guidelines for ASPPA and non-ASPPA CE opportunities. Credentialed members may view their ASPPA-sponsored continuing education credit status for the current CE cycle and submit their CE reporting form through the ASPPA Web site.

ASPPA’s program of continuing education is mandatory for members. To maintain an ASPPA credential, holders must earn 40 continuing education credits during a cycle (and in future two-year cycles). For the initial CE cycle, the number of CE credits required is prorated based on the date of admittance or designation within the two-year CE cycle. Please review the following schedule:

  • First six months of the cycle 30 CE credits
  • Second six months of the cycle 20 CE credits
  • Third six months of the cycle 10 CE credits
  • Fourth six months of the cycle no CE credits

If you are a credentialed member and you do not earn sufficient credits during any CE cycle, ASPPA credentials will be suspended.

Webcast Continuing Education for JBEA Credit

ASPPA has worked out an agreement with the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries (JBEA) on requirements that will allow Enrolled Actuaries, after the successful completion of a short five-question quiz, to receive credit for viewing an ASPPA webcast. [learn more]
