print page

February 13, 2006 (Arlington, VA
) – The American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA) will hold the fifth annual 401(k) SUMMIT from February 26-28, 2006, at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Orlando, FL. More than 1,500 retirement plan professionals who market, sell, support or influence 401(k) plans will be on hand to hear about ASPPA’s new Qualified Retirement Plan Professional (QPFC) credential on Sunday afternoon.

Highlighting the conference is the presentation of the Retirement Plan Advisor of the Year award; last year’s winner vies with another industry leader for plan business in a mock presentation, “The Finals.” This year’s finalists share their best practices in the “Top Producers Panel.” Tulane’s Dr. Peter Ricchiuti addresses capturing prosperity in the new economy and, based on new data, UCLA’s Dr. Shlomo Benartzi, reveals ground-breaking research on the psychology of investing. Workshops on Business Building, Investments, Plan Design and Practice Management complete the agenda.

To discuss ASPPA’s concerns regarding the current hot topic of pension reform legislation and potential regulatory impacts, a press conference will be held on Monday, February 27, at 10:30 a.m. by ASPPA’s Executive Director/CEO, Brian H. Graff, Esq., APM; ASPPA President, Sarah E. Simoneaux, CPC, and President-elect, Chris L. Stroud, MSPA.
The 401(k) SUMMIT 2006 offers 15 hours of ASPPA continuing education credit and is eligible for both NASBA and CFP continuing education credits.

ASPPA, a national organization made up of approximately 6,000 retirement plan professionals, is dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of the employer-sponsored retirement plan system. ASPPA is the only organization comprised exclusively of pension professionals that actively advocates for legislative and regulatory changes to expand and improve the employer-sponsored pension system. In addition, ASPPA offers an extensive credentialing program with a reputation for high-quality training that is thorough and specialized. ASPPA credentials are bestowed upon administrators, consultants, actuaries and other professionals associated with the retirement plan industry.
