PENSION CREDENTIALING EXAMS MAY NOW YIELD COLLEGE CREDITDecember 10, 2004 - ( Arlington, Va.) – The American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries (ASPPA) announced today that effective immediately, passing any of its credential exams could potentially result in college credit. The American Council of Education (ACE) guidelines will now include recommendations to colleges and universities that candidates passing ASPPA exams be eligible for up to 3 semester hour credits for each ASPPA exam. According to ASPPA Executive Director/CEO, Brian H. Graff, Esq., and APM, “As many as 17,000 exam candidates could now be potentially eligible for college credit. This is great news for those retirement plan professionals who have enhanced their industry knowledge through ASPPA’s credentialing program.” Last month ACE reviewed 12 credentialing exams offered by ASPPA within the last 10 years. A content team and a technical team both thoroughly examined the materials and procedures for developing, administering and evaluating the exams and concluded that all 12 exams were worthy of ACE credit recommendations. "The ACE recommendation highlights ASPPA's commitment to excellence in education for all pension professionals," Joan Gucciardi, General Chair of ASPPA's Education and Examination (E&E) Committee.
