What's the Topic?

As the IRS continues to step up its examination activity, it is increasingly important that practitioners approach IRS audits with acumen.  From the mundane (how should we present the material requested?) to the strategic (how do we negotiate in CAP?), this webcast will provide important information for anyone who represents clients during these examinations.

Join Michael Julianelle, Director, Employee Plans Examinations, and Ilene Ferenczy, CPC, Esq. in a discussion of such issues as:

  • What are the current and new directions of IRS reviews, and what is a focused examination?
  • Place of audit:  what is really going on?
  • Powers of attorney and who can properly represent a client in an IRS examination.
  • What is the proper format for providing information to the IRS in an examination?
  • How should self-corrections, both completed and in process, be presented to the IRS reviewer?
  • What to do if there is a uncorrected problem that is discovered on the eve of the audit?
  • How to negotiate with the reviewer in CAP
  • What is the MPA and why is it important?
  • If the audit doesn’t produce agreement, what is the next step?
