Qualifications/Skills and Knowledge Requirements

• Current ASPPA designated member; up-to-date on all continuing education requirements.

• Minimum five (5) years technical retirement plan experience and proven record of educational practices and methodologies.

• Must demonstrate in-depth technical expertise and a thorough understanding of the practical application of relevant law and formal/informal guidance.

• Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills

• Support ASPPA’s mission, vision, and values by exhibiting the following behaviors: excellence and competence, collaboration, innovation, respect, accountability and ownership.

• 2 Letters of reference supporting proven instruction in the appropriate field of retirement plan education. (At least one should be from a student.)

• Demonstrate excellence in preparation of clear, concise and relevant educational presentations.

• Demonstrates effective teaching methods and engagement of audience participation to enhance the overall learning experience.

Performance Measures

At the conclusion of each teaching experience, an instructor will receive a summary of participant presentation evaluation surveys. The Instructor will also be evaluated for:

• Demonstration of expertise in subject area, instructor’s knowledge of the material, effectiveness of the instructor's delivery of the material and usefulness of the instructor’s handout material.

• Quality and timeliness of presentation materials

• Ability to engage participants in the presentation

• Responsiveness to E&E staff and other volunteers
