Credential Overview
The Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) credential is offered for retirement plan professionals who work primarily with 401(k) plans. Applicants for the QKA credentials are from various professional disciplines. They typically assist employers and consultants with the recordkeeping, non-discrimination testing and the administrative aspects of 401(k) and related defined contribution plans.

A minimum of two years experience in retirement plan related matters is required along with completion of ASPPA’s QKA examination series to be a candidate for this credential.

Applying for ASPPA credentialed membership requires submission of the appropriate form and a letter of recommendation from each reference that verifies the necessary work experience requirement. Before completing an application form, candidates should review the paths to membership section to ensure that they have met the requirements for credentialed membership.
Applications are processed on an ongoing basis. The ASPPA Board of Directors approves new credentials once a month. Applicants are mailed scheduled approval date notices and notified by mail once the applications for credentials are approved.

Credential Continuing Professional Education Requirements
All credentialed members must acquire 40 hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits (2 of these must be Ethics) in a two-year-cycle as well as renew your ASPPA Membership annually to retain credentials. For more information please click here.
