House Committee to Markup Bill to Overturn Fiduciary Rule

House Education and the Workforce Committee on July 19 will markup the Affordable Retirement Advice for Savers Act, a bill that would repeal the Department of Labor’s (DOL) fiduciary rule.

In a committee press release announcing the markup, Chair Rep. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) noted that the bill does more than simply repeal the rule and said, “This legislation represents the next step in our effort to ensure all Americans have access to affordable retirement advice that’s in their best interests.”

A fact sheet concerning the bill is here; a bill summary is available here.

H.R. 2823 was introduced on June 8 by Rep. David Roe (R-TN); it was referred that day to the House Committee on Education & the Workforce and the Ways & Means Committee.
