ACOPA Actuarial Symposium Coming Soon

Join me in Chicago on Aug. 18 and 19 for a great symposium with presentations by pension actuarial experts. Chicago in August is beautiful, although I may be biased. I promise no snow.

The location is the historic Palmer House, a Hilton Hotel, centrally located in Chicago and very near Millennium Park. It reopened in 1873 after the Chicago Fire and of course has been updated and renovated since then.

The more important reasons to attend include up to 16 hours of ASPPA, JBEA Formal, and ERPA CE credits. Even more important is the quality of the sessions. The sessions are geared specifically to issues affecting practicing pension actuaries, including recent regulations. The symposium is somewhat unique, in that all sessions meet in the same room and questions are encouraged.

There are sessions on ethics, AFTAP elections, cash balance plans (of course), ASOP updates, take over plan issues, and other topics. See the agenda for more details.

One of the most popular session is the last session, “Ask the Experts.” A panel of three nationally known experts, including an IRS actuary, will be available to answer your questions.

Conversations at breaks and lunch with other pension professionals from around the country are also of value. In addition to networking, you may gain additional insights regarding what was discussed at a prior session.

The cutoff for early registration and hotel reservations is Friday, July 28. Sign up before then.

I look forward to seeing you in Chicago in August.
