New videos just added to the the ASPPA history website feature two giants among ASPPA’s past leadership: Carl Duncan, the sole surviving founder of ASPA, and James “Kirk” Kirkpatrick, who launched ASPA’s Education and Examinations (E&E) program in the 1960s and designed ASPA’s first exams.
In an October 2014 interview, Duncan, then 88, discusses a wide range of topics, including the genesis of the pension actuarial professional in the 1950s and the formation and early days of ASPA.
Kirkpatrick appears in a brief piece of Super 8 footage shot in the late 1960s by David J. Tananbaum, one of ASPA’s first members. “Kirk” also served as ASPA President in 1976, and was one of ASPA’s first representatives on the Advisory Committee of the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries.
