ASPPA Retirement Plan Academy News

In an industry in which many have taken a “sink or swim” approach to employee training, a key ASPPA business partner has taken a different approach.

Nationwide Financial has a long history of supporting ASPPA education. Beginning in 2014, Nationwide made an even deeper commitment, reflecting their dedication to employee professional development. Since then, more than 250 associates successfully completed the ASPPA’s Retirement Plan Fundamentals (RPF) certificate program. In 2015, 34 of these associates moved up to the next level, earning the ASPPA Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) credential.

To assist associates in earning the RPF certification and the QKA credential, Nationwide hosted a series of one-day educational boot camps delivered by Sarah Simoneaux, CPC, of Simoneaux and Stroud Consulting Services (SCS). At the end of the RPF bootcamps, every participant successfully completed the ASPPA RPF1 and RPF2 online exams, and received the RPF certificate. QKA candidates attended semester-long classes at Nationwide before attending the exam bootcamps. At the end of the QKA bootcamps, ASPPA worked with Nationwide to conduct onsite proctored exams for exam candidates.

Nationwide Vice President of Retirement Plan Operations Jeff Stein commented, “Our vision is to be the best at helping America prepare for and live in retirement, and one way we do that is by investing in the knowledge of our associates. We are deeply committed to serving the needs of the qualified retirement plan market and certifying our associates enables Nationwide to better serve the specific needs of our members and partners.”

ASPPA congratulates all of the Nationwide employees who have completed these educational programs!
