This Month in ASPPA History: January

As part of the year-long celebration of ASPPA’s 50th anniversary, we’ve compiled lists of landmark events that took place in each month of the year. This post marks the debut of a regular series that will run throughout 2016.

The month of January featured:

1968: First publication, Actuarial Calculations of the Auxiliary Fund in Pension Plans Utilizing Whole Life Insurance, by Harry T. Eidson
1985: First 2-year CE cycle began
1991: John Burke appointed head of IRS Employee Plans and Exempt Organizations division
1997: Chet Salkind officially replaced by Brian Graff as Executive Director
2002: The Pension Actuary became The ASPPA Journal
2012: The ASPPA Journal became Plan Consultant
