ASPPA Inaugurates Kyla Keck as 46th President

The American Society of Pension Professionals & Actuaries inaugurated Kyla Keck, CPC, QPA, QKA, ERPA, as the new President of the organization during the Oct. 26 opening session of the 2014 ASPPA Annual Conference at the Gaylord Hotel, in National Harbor, MD.

Keck, a Principal of SageView Retirement Plan Consultants (SVRPC) and SageView Advisory Group in Knoxville, TN, supports clients of both organizations in plan design, plan documents, plan administration consulting and corrections.

With more than 30 years of experience in the employee benefits industry, Keck has worked in various aspects of qualified retirement plans. Prior to becoming a partner of SVRPC in 1996, Keck was vice president of Trust and Employee Benefits at First American Bank. Her other professional experience includes benefit software programming, retirement plan administration, and client technical support for Booke & Company as well as serving as Corporate Compensation and Benefits Manager for Plasti-Line, Inc.

Keck has served on various ASPPA committees, including the Benefits Conference of the South, the ASPPA Annual Conference, and the Continuing Education task force of E&E. Committee leadership positions include Vice Chair of National Conferences and General Co-Chair of Conferences. She became a member of the ASPPA Board of Directors in 2009 and has served as Vice President, Secretary, Senior Vice President and President-Elect. 

In addition to Keck's ASPPA educational credentials, her qualifications include the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and the Enrolled Retirement Plan Agent from the Internal Revenue Service. 

Ferenczy Joins ASPPA Board

ASPPA also announced Oct. 26 that Ilene H. Ferenczy, Esq., CPC, APA, Esq., CPC, APA, has joined the Board of Directors. She will serve a three-year term.

Ferenczy is the Managing Partner of Ferenczy Benefits Law Center LLP, an employee benefits law firm with offices in Atlanta, GA and Knoxville, TN. She advises clients on all types of employee benefits plans, focusing particularly on qualified retirement plans, benefits issues in mergers and acquisitions, and advising third party administrators (TPAs) on technical and practice issues.

Ferenczy is a nationally know speaker and the author of more than 70 articles published in industry periodicals. Her book, Employee Benefits in Mergers and Acquisitions, is now in its 15th edition. She is an adjunct professor at the College of Law at Georgia State University, and serves on the Employee Benefits Advisory Board at the John Marshall Law School Center for Tax Law and Employee Benefits in Chicago.

Ferenczy was the first female co-chair of ASPPA’s Government Affairs Committee, a former member of ASPPA’s Board of Directors, and the 2007 recipient of ASPPA’s Educator’s Award. She was elected to membership as a Fellow in the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel, the highest honor awarded to ERISA lawyers.
