Supreme Court Wrapup Added to WBC

Just added to this year’s Western Benefits Conference, July 27-30 at the Bellagio in Las Vegas: an update on ERISA-related litigation and the U.S. Supreme Court, which has been very active recently in the employee benefits area. This session, led by Charles D. Lockwood, J.D., LL.M, Principal, ASC Institute, LLC, will highlight the recent Supreme Court decisions affecting employee benefits, including:

the Hobby Lobby ruling affecting some health plans;
the Fifth Third Bancorp v. Dudenhoeffer ruling on ESOPs;
the Clark v. Rameker case addressing inherited IRAs; and
the Tibble and Tussey cases addressing reasonable fees.

Lockwood will also discuss other important cases addressing fiduciary liability and death benefits under qualified retirement plans. 

Other highlights of this year’s conference: presentations by ASPPA Executive Director/CEO Brian Graff and Kathy Jones, VP and fixed income strategist at Charles Schwab’s Schwab Center for Financial Research.
