Academic Credit

ASPPA emphasizes the importance of the continuing professional and educational development of its members. ASPPA also recognizes the importance of providing educational opportunities to earn continuing education credit (CPE) for other designations.

Below is a list of educational opportunities to earn ASPPA and non-ASPPA continuing education credits for ASPPA examinations. For information on all opportunities to earn ASPPA continuing professional education credits, click here
 

ASPPA CPE Credit for ERPA Examinations & Review Sessions

An ERPA candidate can receive 20 ASPPA continuing education credits for successful completion of each ERPA exam part; NIPA is offering 15 CPE to credentialed members.

ERPA-SEE Review Sessions are approved for 1 credit per 50 minutes of instruction with a maximum of 15 credits.

Non-ASPPA CPE Credit for Educational Offerings

Enrolled Retirement Plan Agent Credit

Successfully completed ASPPA examinations have been approved for Enrolled Retirement Plan Agent (ERPA) credit by the Internal Revenue Servie (IRS) in those provisions of the Internal Revenue Code and the regulations relating to qualified retirement plan matters.  ERPAs can earn up to:

  •  7 credits for successfully completing ASPPA's RPF-1, RPF-2, nd TGPC-1 examinations
  • 20 credits for successfully completing ASPPA's DC-1, DC-2, DC-3, DB, PFC-1, PFC-2, or CPC examinations
  • 3 credits for ASPPA's Certified Pension Consultant (CPC) modules

CFP, ChFC and CLU Credit

Successfully completed ASPPA examinations have been approved for Certified Financial Planner (CFP) credit by the CFP Board. Credits through PACE have also been approved for Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designations for the successful completion of the following activities:

Examination  CFP, ChFC & CLU Credits 
RPF-1 & RPF-2  15 credits each 
TGPC-1 7.5 credits 
DC-1, DC-2, DC-3, DB   20 credits 
PFC-1, PFC-2  20 credits each 

ASPPA will report CFP CPE hours electronically to the CFP Board. CFP® certificants must complete the CFP Candidate Reporting Sheet in its entirety and submit to ASPPA at education@asppa.org after successful completion of an examination.

Please refer to the CFP web site for additional information on reporting and earning continuing education credits. The ChFC and CLU designations are designations awarded by the The American College. Please refer to The American College web site for information on reporting and earning continuing education credit.

ASPPA conferences also provide an opportunity to earn CFP, ChFC, CLU and NASBA credit. Please refer to the conferences web page for information on the number of credits.

Academic Credit

Most ASPPA examinations have been recommended for college credit by the American Council on Education (ACE). For information on specific examination recommendations, click here.
